Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and V2 App, LLC ("we"), which runs Restless at restlesscatholic.com (the "service"). By using the service you accept them. Our privacy policy says what we collect and why.
1. The service
Restless helps you prepare for the day's Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours in the United States. For each reading it gathers its context, the Church's teaching on it, and the Fathers of the Church on the Gospel, with each source named and linked. It offers three levels: a preview of today for anyone; a free account, opened with an email address; and a paid subscription for the study tools. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a paid feature, we will say so in advance.
2. Accounts
- You need an email address you control. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account.
- One account is for one person.
- The service is not directed to children under 13. [Minimum age for an account, and whether a parent's consent is needed under 18.]
- You may close your account at any time by writing to support@restlesscatholic.com. We may put an account on hold or close it if these terms are broken, and will tell you why by email.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Plans. A subscription is billed yearly or monthly, at the price shown when you subscribe. There is no free trial.
- Payment. Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or keep your card details.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. We will tell you by email before a price change takes effect on your renewal.
- Cancelling. Cancel at any time in the customer portal, reached from your account page. The subscription then runs to the end of the period already paid for and does not renew; your free account stays open.
- Failed payments. If a renewal cannot be charged, Stripe retries for a time; if it still fails, the subscription ends and your account returns to the free level.
- Refunds. [Refund policy: to be set by Tom.]
- Taxes. [Whether prices include sales tax, and where it is collected.]
4. Donations
Anyone may give to support the work, with or without an account, through a payment page run by Stripe. A gift is voluntary, buys nothing and opens no feature. V2 App, LLC is not a charity, and gifts are not tax-deductible. [Whether gifts are refundable.]
5. Acceptable use
Use the service for your own prayer, study and teaching. Do not:
- copy, scrape or download the service's content or data in bulk, or by automated means;
- share your account, or pass on the paid pages, to people who have not subscribed;
- try to get around the levels, the sign-in or any security measure, or interfere with the service's working;
- use the service against the law.
Data the credits page releases under an open licence (such as CC BY-SA 4.0) may be used under that licence.
6. Content
- The Church's teaching leads. The service presents the teaching of the Catholic Church first and draws on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the documents of the Church and the Fathers. Other views, where shown, are named with who holds them and where they say it.
- The readings are not reproduced here. The text of the readings belongs to its owners and is read at the US bishops' site, bible.usccb.org, to which every reading links. Where the service draws on copyrighted works, it summarises them in its own words and links to them.
- Our own content. The summaries, arrangements, data and design of the service belong to V2 App, LLC or are used under licence (see the credits). Public-domain texts shown on the service remain in the public domain.
- Your notes belong to you and stay on your device. We never receive them. Keeping them safe is your responsibility: save a backup file from Your notes, because clearing your browser's data, changing browsers or losing your device can remove them, and we cannot restore them.
7. Credits and licences
The service uses sources and data under their own licences, listed on the credits page. Those licences govern the works they cover, and nothing in these terms takes away a right they give you.
8. Not a substitute for the Church or your pastor
Restless is a study aid. It is not an official publication of the Catholic Church, of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops or of any diocese, and it is not endorsed by them. It does not replace the teaching of the Church, the Mass and the sacraments, or the guidance of your pastor or confessor. On any question of faith, morals or practice, the Church's teaching and your pastor come first.
9. Disclaimers
We take care that every statement is sourced and correct, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be free of errors, uninterrupted or always available. [Full warranty disclaimer, as counsel advises.]
10. Limitation of liability
[Limitation of liability: to be drafted by counsel.]
11. Governing law and disputes
[Governing law (the state), venue, and any dispute-resolution or arbitration clause: to be set by counsel.]
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will post the new terms here with their date, and tell account holders by email before a change that matters takes effect. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms; if you do not accept them, you may cancel and close your account.
